As electric and hybrid vehicles become more common on UK roads, the skills and qualifications required to repair them safely are evolving just as quickly. We’re proud to announce that our business has now achieved the IMI Level 3 Award in Electric / Hybrid Vehicle System Repair and Replacement.
This nationally recognised qualification confirms that our technicians have been independently assessed as competent to work on high-voltage electric and hybrid vehicle systems.
What the IMI Level 3 Award Means
The Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) is the UK’s leading professional body for automotive standards. The Level 3 EV & Hybrid award is designed for technicians who carry out repair and replacement work on high-voltage systems, not just routine maintenance.
Achieving this award demonstrates knowledge and competence in areas such as:

Safe isolation and re-energising of high-voltage systems

Diagnosis and replacement of EV and hybrid components

Understanding EV system architecture and risks

Working in line with current health and safety legislation
In short, it means the work is carried out safely, correctly, and to industry-recognised standards.

The process involved a rigorous assessment of the way we do business to ensure our standard of work and service provided was high enough to make the grade. WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO BECOME A WHICH? TRUSTED TRADER
To achieve our Which? trusted trader status, we were put through the 5 step assessment process that all tradesman must go through to become recognised trusted traders:
- Credit Check – This was to validate the financial stability of Haworth Autobody Ltd and included a credit check to ensure our business wasn’t facing any financial issues.
- References – This part of the assessment involved random customer reference checks from the Which? Team to ensure the level of service we provided made the grade.
- Business Procedures – This included an examination of our business and administrative procedures.
- Interview and Assessment – At this stage, we were visited by an assessor from the Which? trusted traders team for an interview.
- Code of Conduct – We then became an endorsed trader by agreeing to abide by the code of conduct set out by Which?.
